The Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau (LCVB), with their marketing agency Preston-Osborne, received several awards at the Kentucky Tourism Council 2007 Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing competition.
The LCVB won first place for its "Bourbon Box" entry-a hospitality gift designed to highlight the region's bourbon distilleries-and for a "Lively, Lovely, Legendary" campaign radio spot. Dynamix Productions produced the radio soundtracks.
The Bureau won Second Place awards for direct mail invitations sent to meeting planners and its annual "Take Pride in the Bluegrass" campaign. Honorable mentions were awarded to the Bureau's "Winners Circle" invitation and a "Lively, Lovely, Legendary" TV spot. Post Time Productions produced the video, while Dynamix Productions produced the soundtrack.
Preston-Osborne also received second place for the Keeneland Concours d'Elegance Marketing Campaign.
Preston-Osborne and its chief operating officer, Ellen Gregory, have been working closely with the LCVB since the spring of 2006.
"Our work with the Bureau over the last year and a half has been fun and exciting. We spent nearly six months doing research and developing a
long-term strategic plan for the Bureau to map out where the Bureau needs to be focusing their marketing dollars and efforts for the coming years. We're happy to be recognized for some of the creative work that has come out of this collaboration," said Gregory.
The awards were presented at an evening gala held October 16 at the Executive Inn-Rivermont in Owensboro, as part of the Kentucky Tourism
Industry Annual Conference. The Traverse Awards are presented annually for the top work in marketing and
advertising among marketing and tourism industry professionals. Each entry is judged on creativity, uniqueness, effectiveness and how well it relates to its audience. The work must have been published or distributed within the past year.
The Traverse Awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing are open to Kentucky Tourism Council and Kentucky Hotel & Lodging Association members offering a tourism product or service in Kentucky.
The Kentucky Tourism Council is a state industry organization representing Kentucky's tourism industry.
