When you think of electronic music, you often think of the straightforward synthesizer, electric piano, or loops and samples. But some musicians like to rewire, alter, or downright reconstruct electronic equipment to make sounds they weren’t originally intended to do. At the forefront of these experimentations was BBC’s Radiophonic Workshop, a special music lab that gave us unique sounds and music for hit TV shows such as Dr. Who.

What young person really knows what they want to be when they grow up? Very few of my childhood friends are still on the path they laid out early in life. Most of us have zig-zagged through careers, including me. Unlike today, if you wanted to be an audio engineer in the 70's like I did, there were very limited educational opportunities.

The documentary produced by Dynamix Productions, "The Beat of a Different Drummer: The Story of America's Last All-Female Military Band," has been selected for broadcast on the KET Network this fall. It has also been selected for national distribution among 95 public television stations and networks through the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA). It will be available to those affiliates in time for Veteran's Day in November. Check your local listings.

Congratulations go out to Tonya M. Evans, the recipient of the 2013 Eagle Rare Life Award. She’s a single mother of 3 children and the CEO and Founder of American Fallen Warrior Memorial Foundation. The Fallen Warrior Memorial is envisioned to be “the largest of its kind in this country…a true national landmark".

Dynamix won a Gold ADDY Award for Sound Design on Friday at the AAF Lexington ADDY Show. The sound design, by Dane Dickmann, was for a DoubleStar Firearms television commercial directed by Jason Epperson (Eppic Films).
Dynamix also won a Silver ADDY Award for Sound Design for the “Envisioning Home” documentary trailer (directed by Jason Epperson of Eppic Films), with sound design by Neil Kesterson.
We also shared in 7 other awards, including 1 Gold ADDY, 1 Silver ADDY, and 4 Bronze ADDYs. Congratulations to all the winners!
Witnessing History has produced an important documentary on Henry Clay, "Henry Clay and the Struggle for the Union." The film focuses on how Clay stalled the Civil War for over 4 decades as settlers moved westward while expanding slavery . The visual canvas of the documentary is painted with extraordinary works of period art and rarely seen photographs. Read More...
"Quest for the Perfect Bourbon," a film by documentary maker Joanna Hay, is about the people, stories, and history of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY. The documentary started out as an oral history project and blossomed into a 40-minute program that will be broadcast by KET in the coming months. "The Reign of Nobility," the new film about the history of the horse, debuted at the Kentucky Horse Park during the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in September. "The Reign of Nobility" explores the bond between horse and human from prehistoric times, through migration, during war, and in sports.. Shot on 35mm and HD, the film features sweeping panoramas; Native American, jousting knight, and Civil War re-enactors; and Kentucky Horse Park locations. Dynamix Productions designed the soundtrack, which featured William Shatner, who recorded the narration in our studios.
